This after having the Autostart folder in every KDE release I can remember.<\/p>\n<p>Well, it seems that KDE 4 has adopted the same type of startup program control that Gnome has used for years.<\/p>\n<h2><em><strong>A quick example.<\/strong><\/em><\/h2>\n<p>Ok, let&#8217;s say that you want to start, oh I don&#8217;t know&#8230; Let&#8217;s say you want to start Krellm at login. here are the steps:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2><em><strong>Under the K menu, select Computer -&gt; System Settings:<\/strong><\/em><\/h2>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-347\" title=\"KMenu\" src=\"http:\/\/www.actusa.net\/~stu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/KMenu1.png\" alt=\"KMenu\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stuartsheldon.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/KMenu1.png 600w, https:\/\/www.stuartsheldon.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/KMenu1-300x225.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><em><strong>Then, under advanced, select Autostart:<\/strong><\/em><\/h2>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-349\" title=\"Autostart\" src=\"http:\/\/www.actusa.net\/~stu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/Autostart.png\" alt=\"Autostart\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stuartsheldon.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/Autostart.png 600w, https:\/\/www.stuartsheldon.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/Autostart-300x225.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><em><strong>Once you&#8217;ve clicked on Autostart, select Add Program and choose the application you want to start at login:<\/strong><\/em><\/h2>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-351\" title=\"AppChoose\" src=\"http:\/\/www.actusa.net\/~stu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/AppChoose.png\" alt=\"AppChoose\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stuartsheldon.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/AppChoose.png 600w, https:\/\/www.stuartsheldon.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/AppChoose-300x225.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><em><strong>Once you&#8217;ve done that, Make sure it&#8217;s enabled and that it&#8217;s set to run on startup:<\/strong><\/em><\/h2>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-352\" title=\"Added\" src=\"http:\/\/www.actusa.net\/~stu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/Added.png\" alt=\"Added\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stuartsheldon.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/Added.png 600w, https:\/\/www.stuartsheldon.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/Added-300x225.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><em><strong>Now, exit out of everything, logout, then log back in, and you should be all set:<\/strong><\/em><\/h2>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-354\" title=\"Afterlogin\" src=\"http:\/\/www.actusa.net\/~stu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/Afterlogin.png\" alt=\"Afterlogin\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stuartsheldon.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/Afterlogin.png 600w, https:\/\/www.stuartsheldon.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/Afterlogin-300x225.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong><em>And the rest is history!<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>I hope this helps someone searching the web trying to figure this out.
